Doodle Park

Windy Character Sheet

I default to drawing my guys always facing left. I’m unsure of why. In this instance, I realized that if I was going to make Jack and Cassie facing each other, the wind wouldn’t be blowing their hair in the same direction.  The saddest part is that I was actually proud of myself for realizing this. SCIENCE IS FUN!

Also, a sheep.

Raw Character Sheet

I re-use character images again and again in the Doodle Park comics, but I like to draw the characters a lot, to keep them fresh and to have lots of images with which to work. This is Jack and Cassie as they currently appear in Spring of 2014. Space Panda is a little wonky on this sheet - his head is too square and he’s too tall - so I’ve not used this one.

Jack with his arms up? I’m not totally sure what’s going on there, except that I want to begin having the characters try out poses that aren’t their usual rigid stiffness. So I guess I thought this was the opposite extreme of arms at the side. I rarely show his fingers, and you can see I deliberated over whether he actually has 5 (like most actual people) or 4, (like most cartoon characters.) The jury is still out.
